1.0 Introduction

he Tanzania Youth Potentials Association (TYPs-Association) is a Non-Governmental Organization
established in Tanzania with its headquarter in Musoma District, Mara
region-Tanzania (East Africa). Its establishment and program performances shall
be guided by the state laws as hereby categorized as a Non-Governmental act No.
24 of 2002 as amended in 2005.TYPs-Association
is comprised of honorable, associate, Founder, and joining/ ordinary membership,
whereby as of January 2013 it had 31 members.
The
organization was formed in 2012 and registered 14th May 2013 under
Non Governmental Act No. 24 of 2002; vide registration No. 00NGO/00006304.The
focus of the organization is to utilize youth’s potentials for their own
development, community and state development at large. It also intends to
strengthen regional and international interventions towards protection and
promotion of the human rights especially to children, youth and women. It works
with networking with other partners/ stakeholders and beneficiaries.
The TYPs-Association has sound
management team and Board of Directors which oversee its taking off and other
planned activities. There are number of challenges which the TYPs-Association wishes to
address; some of the challenges are insufficient financial resources, its own
office and inadequate volunteers. The TYPs-Association
intends to use a period of three years (2013-2015) of its first
Strategic Plan to achieve its objectives.
Our Core Values
The TYPs-Association core values is to practice high commitment
aiming at executing advocacy matters based on poverty reduction, mobilization
of social justice, conservations and utilization of natural wealth for
socio-economic development and using technical packages in an equal and
balanced reflection via;

and valuing equality between each other.
o Being friendly to
each other as to create mutual working partnerships, between the association
and other development stakeholders
o Building a sense of
ownership as to promote accountability, openness and transparence to every
member
2. Objectives of the Organizations
General Objective
To advocate various matters aiming at
creating strong social-economic base by promoting the social, economic, and
cultural development leading to empower people of the society with competent
technical packages eligible to fight against poverty and ignorance at large and
let them be engine and front fighters during an elimination of poverty sidewise
hardly working to build a strong nation with competent people as well as strong
economic base simultaneously
Specific Objectives
i. Development
a.
To
identify and overcome the obstacle hindering attaining development achievements
in Tanzania by addressing strategic approaches likely to combat various issues
grounded by Ignorance, Poverty and Diseases among people of the society.
b.
Environmental
Conservation and Management of Natural Resources
c.
To
carry on activities of legal aid, advice, counseling and other related services
to victims of Gender based violence.
d.
Lobby
and advocate for change of Laws affecting Women and children.
e.
To
mobilize communities to change attitudes and behavior which cause violence
against women and children
f.
To
build capacity to community leaders towards understanding impacts of violence
to women and children and motivate them to initiate change within their own
environment that uphold women’s and children’s rights.
g.
To
prepare radio programs liaise with print media on issues related to women’s and
children rights.
ii. Advocacy
a.
To
empower youth and the community at large to access their rights and fight for
injustices and inequality due to the facts that violation of their rights
endanger their development.
b.
To
create a difference in the community through advocacy in relation to basic
human rights especially women’s and children’s rights.
iii. Capacity Building
a.
TYPs-Association
shall work to increases knowledge, output rate, management, skills and other
capabilities of youth through acquisition, incentives, technology and/ or
training. This is an approach to youth development that focuses on
understanding on the obstacle that inhibit youth from realizing their
potentials while enhancing ability that will allow them to achieve measurable
and sustainable results towards establishment of poverty eradication
initiatives on self-reliance basis.
3.0 Vision and Mission
3.1. Vision statement
To fight against poverty and work with
youth and other community groups to overcome poverty and injustice by utilizing
their potentials.
3.2. Mission statement
To strive inheriting Youth and other
community groups with various technical capacities eligible to make them be
engines for socio-economic growth for individual benefits, societies and the
national at large as such to see
a community in which women’s and children’s rights are observed and respected
by executing mobilization projects eligible to bring positive changes to
community through action and participation in collaboration with community and
other stakeholders to prevent Gender Based Violence (GBV)
4.0 Organization Governance and Management
The organization governance and management is
stretched into three (3) main levels namely; the General Meeting (GM) and Board
of Directors which stands as governing body and the Management which serves as
the Management body of the organization.
4.1 General Meeting
The general meeting comprises
the panel of Board of Directors (only for the Annual General Meeting), an
Executive Director and all other organization members. So far General Meetings
may also include other stakeholders like Donors, Volunteers etc by special official
invitation as Directors may think fit.
Powers/functions of
the General Meeting (Article 29 of the Constitution)
i.
To discuss, approve, and evaluate financial situation of an
organization.
ii.
To evaluate issues based on organizational programs and mentor
technical issues related to current programs and those to be done in the next
calendar year.
iii.
To discuss, advice, and decide contracts to be entered between the
organization and other organizations, companies, Donors, individuals etc.
iv.
Other functions shall be attempted and respective powers shall be
assigned accordingly.
An Annual General Meeting is
held once per year and venue as may be determined by the member.
4.2 Organization Board
Quorum of Board
Members
The quorum for the board
members is 60% of all members.
The Board of Directors comprises of five (5)
members and currently, the TYPs-Association’s Body of Directors has 5 Members.
Some of the key functions of the Body of Directors are:

of board members (Article 27 of the Constitution)
i.
To endorse leaders appointed by the office bearers.
ii.
To review and approve or disapprove policies and actions of
Tanzania Youth Potentials Association wherever it considers it necessary or
desirable so to do.
iii.
To evaluate the annual general handing-over reports on activities
of Tanzania Youth Potentials Association submitted to it by the office bearers.
iv.
To make provisions for all matters relating to funds of
TYPs-Association including but not limited to preparation of annual estimates
of income and expenditure, accounting, periodical financial statements and made
provisions for the opening and management of the bank accounts.
v.
To approve budget estimates presented by the secretary general.
vi.
To investigate and take appropriate disciplinary and/or legal
measures against any of the office bearers in case of malpractice, corruption
or any other misconduct provided two thirds of the members attending the
meeting shall approve or disapprove.
vii.
Shall oversee general activities of the organization and ensure a
constant growth of an organization in terms of programs and financial capacity.
viii.
To establish committees as may be found necessary for execution of
its function; and
ix.
To perform any other duties as allowed in this constitution or
permitted within the organization by-laws.
N.B: GENERAL
WORKING MODALITIES & POSITION HOLDINGS
i.
All
machinery members of the organization works on volunteerism bases especially at
an initial stage of the organization establishment, since projects shall be
conducted on part-time bases.
ii.
As
responsibilities gains momentum and the organization grows in terms of
programs, technical and financial capacity requiring permanent work execution,
then Tanzania Youth Potentials Association shall contract the required
technical individuals to work in a full time bases by being enabled with
financial facilities. Either; contracts may be renewed by following all
recruitment/appointment procedures in relation to other instruments like HR
manuals etc.
iii.
Other guidelines are applied as shall be instructed in the
organization By-Laws.
The first TYPs-Association’s BODs membership
is comprised of Ms. Eunice Katabwa, as its first chairperson. Other members in
the Board are Mr. Andreas Migiro, the Coordinator of Community Development and
Relief Fund (CDR Fund), as the vice chairperson. Others are Mwl. Magita G. Nyagore,
Academic Master of Musoma Technical School and tutor of “Kazi Nje Nje Programme”
of ILO-Musoma Urban, Mr. Fidel Balagaye, Youth Development Officer (Mara
Regional), and Mama Tanna A. Nyabange District Community Development Officer
and Coordinator of TACAIDS Unit (Musoma District Council).
4.3 Management/ Secretariat
The Management is headed by the Executive
Director of the TYPs-Association Japheth M. Kurwa who is supported by Rozalia Juma,
Executive Secretary of TYPs-Association, Ruhumbika K. Majula, Logistic Officer
of TYPs-Association, Matheus Lazaro of TYPs-Association, Financial Officer of
TYPs-Association and MelaniaLazaro of TYPs-Association, Program Manager of
TYPs- Association, Debora Boniphace, Lilian Bunini, Maria Hamza, James Phabian Kubega.
Some of the key functions of the management are to undertake day to day
activities of the organization, monitoring and evaluation (M&E) of the
planned activities, carry out publicity work of the organization; and receive
membership fees and communications.
